All of the activities at the Hotel Icaria Barcelona take into account environmental protection by creating and implementing an environmental management programme focusing on two lines of action.

Energy management
Taking advantage of the sun with solar panels to supply hot water for the entire hotel’s water supply. Heat insulation throughout the building. Optimization of electrical power for lighting by disconnecting lights in empty rooms, energy-saving lamps and strategically placed occupancy sensors. Energy recovery system to take advantage of excess SHW. Diffusers to control water consumption in toilet cisterns and all taps, in line with the criteria of environmental standards. Information for clients on environmental programmes for saving with laundry.

Waste Management
Classifying waste for recycling into organic waste, paper and cardboard, glass, tins, plastics, batteries, office supplies, fluorescent lamps and burned oils. Separate pneumatic collection of solid waste, organics and inorganics. Utmost use of all products with recyclable packaging.
